 1        AN ACT in relation to vehicles.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
 5    Section 12-602.1 as follows:

 6        (625 ILCS 5/12-602.1 new)
 7        Sec. 12-602.1. Excessive engine braking noise.
 8        (a)  The driver of a commercial vehicle may  not  operate
 9    an engine braking system that emits excessive noise.
10        (b)  This   Section   applies   only  on  highways  where
11    appropriate signs prohibiting the use of  an  engine  braking
12    system of that type have been erected.
