 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  were  saddened  to  learn of the death of George G.
 4    Gilpin Sr. of McHenry on Friday, April 11, 2003; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mr. Gilpin was born on April 2, 1929 in  Antioch
 6    to  Jay  and  Henneritta  (Hanke) Gilpin; on July 1, 1950, he
 7    married  Barbara  Freund  at  St.  Mary  Catholic  Church  in
 8    McHenry; and

 9        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Gilpin  was  a  home  delivery  agent  for
10    Standard Oil Co. and was a road foreman for McHenry Township;
11    he was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church
12    in McHenry where he had served as an usher; he was  a  member
13    of  the McHenry Catholic Order of Foresters Court 594; he had
14    served as president and secretary of the McHenry Rifle  Club,
15    which  was  founded  by his father-in-law, Herb H. Freund; he
16    was also a member of the National Rifle Association  and  the
17    Woodstock High School Class of 1947; and

18        WHEREAS,  The  passing of Mr. Gilpin has been deeply felt
19    by many, especially his wife, Barbara; his  children,  George
20    "Skip"  (Cindy  Rivera)  Gilpin, Gary Gilpin, Mary Jo Decker,
21    and Gina (Mike) Syverson; his  grandchildren,  Brenna  Decker
22    and  Jason  Gilpin;  his  brother,  Richard Gilpin; his aunt,
23    Florence (Otto) Hanke;  and  his  many  nieces  and  nephews;
24    therefore, be it

25        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
26    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the  passing
27    of  George G. Gilpin Sr. and extend to his friends and family
28    our sincere condolences; and be it further

29        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
30    presented  to  the  family  of  George  G.  Gilpin  Sr. as an
31    expression of our deepest sympathy.
