 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  were  saddened  to  learn  of the death of Garifalo
 4    "Gary" Nouaros Harris of Pekin on Sunday, May 25, 2003; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mrs. Harris was born on January 17, 1912 in Kato
 6    Panagia, Greece to John and Despina Nouaros; she married Alex
 7    Konstantine Harris on May 11, 1930  in  Athens,  Greece;  her
 8    husband preceded her in death on May 8, 1973 in Pekin; and

 9        WHEREAS,   Mrs.  Harris  was  a  survivor  of  the  Greek
10    Holocaust of Asia Minor and came  to  the  United  States  on
11    August  15,  1930;  she worked as a seamstress at Little Star
12    Cleaners in Pekin for many years; and

13        WHEREAS, Mrs. Harris was a member  of  All  Saints  Greek
14    Orthodox Church in Peoria, its Holy Cross Philoptohos Society
15    and  the  Homer Society; in addition, she was a member of the
16    Walking  or  Wheeling  Club  Inc.  and  Asia  Minor  Hellenic
17    American Society; and

18        WHEREAS, The passing of Garifalo  "Gary"  Nouaros  Harris
19    has  been  deeply  felt  by  all who knew her, especially her
20    daughter, Tina Harris; her son, John (Jeanette)  Harris;  her
21    grandchildren; her great-grandchildren; and her sister, Patra
22    Chiotakis;  she was preceded in death by her son, Konstantine
23    A. "Deno" Harris on March 22, 1987; and her two  sisters  and
24    one brother; therefore, be it

25        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
26    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the  passing
27    of Garifalo "Gary" Nouaros Harris and express our sincere and
28    deepest sympathy to her family and friends; and be it further

29        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
30    presented to the family of Garifalo "Gary" Nouaros Harris  as
31    an  expression  of  our  condolences  during  their  time  of
