 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  were  saddened to learn of the death of Bruce Hill,
 4    Jr., of East St. Louis on June 1, 2003; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mr. Hill served the city of East St. Louis as  a
 6    firefighter  for  25 years; he served several years as a bomb
 7    and arson inspector; he attained the rank of captain prior to
 8    being selected as the city and nation's youngest fire  chief,
 9    a position he held for 12 years; and

10        WHEREAS,  Mr. Hill's passing will be deeply felt by many,
11    especially his wife, Reola;  his  children,  Bruce  Hill  IV,
12    Korre  Hill,  and Kahalah Hill; his sister, Kathryn Hill; his
13    mother-in-law, Barbara Maxwell; his  brother-in-law,  Raymond
14    (Mildred)   Maxwell;   his  sisters-in-law,  Laverne  (Clyde)
15    Mitchom and Brenda (James) Kidd; his four grandchildren;  his
16    five  nephews,  Anthony  Hill,  Todd  (Valeska)  Hill,  Damon
17    (Katia)  Maxwell,  Brandon  Kidd, and Jon-Pierre Mitchom; his
18    two nieces, Shasheen Kidd and Tabia  (Marcos)  Surafiel;  his
19    great-nephew,  Dereon  Hill; his two great-nieces, Jazmin and
20    Jayda Hill; his special friend, Earl Jimison; and a  host  of
21    other relatives and friends; therefore, be it

22        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
23    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the  passing
24    of  Bruce Hill, Jr. along with all who knew and loved him and
25    extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and
26    be it further

27        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
28    presented  to  the family of Bruce Hill, Jr. as an expression
29    of our deepest sympathy.
