SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois were saddened to learn of the passing of Michael Anthony Threet, Jr. on December 4, 2003; and

WHEREAS, Michael Anthony Threet, Jr., the oldest of two children of Michael and Pamela Threet, Sr., was born August 4, 1976 in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Michael Anthony Threet, Jr. gave his life to the Lord at an early age, and was a member of St. Sabina Catholic Church under the pastorate of Reverend Michael Pfleger; and

WHEREAS, Michael Anthony Threet, Jr. was a man of strong faith, loved the Bible and enjoyed reading, meditating, and discussing the Word of God, especially his favorite scripture Matthew 6:31-32; and

WHEREAS, Michael Anthony Threet, Jr. attended St. Philip Neri Elementary School, and in 1995 graduated from De LaSalle Institute, where he was a member of the wrestling and football teams; he was also Vice-President of the Student Council; and

WHEREAS, After graduating from De LaSalle Institute, he attended Daley College and worked as an administrative assistant at Spathies Construction Company; and

WHEREAS, Michael Anthony Threet, Jr. enjoyed driving his car and playing video games; he was an avid reader of history and science-fiction and had a passion for helping young people, having volunteered as a tutor at De LaSalle Institute and the City Year Program of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Michael Anthony Threet, Jr. was "best buddies" with his brother Chris, and had a special relationship with family and friends, often engaging them in stimulating and intellectual conversation; and

WHEREAS, At an early age, Michael Anthony Threet, Jr. became very skilled at spotting the "golden arches," though sometimes it was a Clark gas station, and upon seeing them would yell out "French fries"; and

WHEREAS, Michael Anthony Threet, Jr. enjoyed a cheeseburger with French fries on it, "don't forget the ketchup!" as his last meal, and is now spotting McDonald's "golden arches" all over Heaven, especially the ones that serve Kool-aid with at least a half a pound of sugar in it; and

WHEREAS, Michael Anthony Threet, Jr.'s passing will be deeply felt by many, especially his parents, Michael and Pamela Threet, Sr.; his brother, Chris; and a host of family and friends; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Chummy Jacobs; and paternal grandparents, Drunetta and Webb T. Threet, Sr.; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Michael Anthony Threet, Jr. along with all who knew and loved him and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Michael Anthony Threet, Jr. as an expression of our sorrow for their loss.
