| SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois | 3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Thomas R. Schober of | 4 |
| Algonquin on Sunday, January 25, 2004; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Schober was born and raised in Bloomfield, New | 6 |
| Jersey; he graduated from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, | 7 |
| New Jersey; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Schober was a volunteer with the non-profit | 9 |
| educational group Junior Achievement from the time he was 16; | 10 |
| he met his wife, Jean, at a Junior Achievement conference, and | 11 |
| they were married in 1970; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Schober worked as a salesman in the cosmetics | 13 |
| and fragrance industry, a job that took the couple to | 14 |
| California, Ohio, and New Jersey, before they reached Algonquin | 15 |
| in the early 1980s; Mr. Schober became involved in local | 16 |
| politics in Algonquin by launching a successful effort to stop | 17 |
| a dump from being built on top of the aquifer in nearby Lake in | 18 |
| the Hills; and
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Schober was appointed to Algonquin's Zoning | 20 |
| Board of Appeals, was a village trustee from 1989 to 1993, and | 21 |
| was Algonquin Township supervisor until 1997; he left his | 22 |
| township duties to become director of consumer services for the | 23 |
| Office of Banks and Real Estate, Community Services Division; | 24 |
| and
| 25 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Schober worked together on campaigns | 26 |
| for State Senator Pam Althoff; State Representatives Mark | 27 |
| Beaublen and Rosemary Kurtz; McHenry County Board Chairman Mike | 28 |
| Tryon, who is running to succeed Representative Kurtz; State | 29 |
| Representative candidate Perry Moy; and States Attorney | 30 |
| candidate Glenn Gable; Mr. Schober was registered to run for |

| Republican committeeman in Algonquin Township's 41st precinct, | 2 |
| a position he had for many years; and | 3 |
| WHEREAS, While he enjoyed political campaigns and fighting | 4 |
| for what he believed in, Mr. Schober's first passion was his | 5 |
| family; from T-ball to college, he very rarely missed any of | 6 |
| his children's games; he was devoted to his children; and
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Thomas R. Schober has been deeply | 8 |
| felt by many, especially his wife, Jean; his children, Bryan | 9 |
| Thomas, Kevin Richard, and Debra Jean; his brothers, Charles | 10 |
| and Warren; and his two granddaughters, Gabriela Jean and | 11 |
| Makayla Sylvia; therefore, be it
| 12 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL | 13 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 |
| Thomas R. Schober, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his | 15 |
| friends, family, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 16 |
| further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 |
| presented to the family of Mr. Schober as an expression of our | 19 |
| sincerest condolences during their time of bereavement.
