SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 were saddened to learn of the death of Jack L. Stankoven of
4 Carlinville on Saturday, February 14, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Stankoven was born on September 20, 1939, in
6 Gillespie to John and Jenny M. Obertino Stankoven; he married
7 Kathryn E. Lacy in 1963 in Gillespie; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Mr. Stankoven graduated from Gillespie High
9 School in 1957; he earned an education degree from Southern
10 Illinois University at Carbondale; he earned both a master's
11 degree and a specialist degree from Southern Illinois
12 University at Edwardsville; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Mr. Stankoven was a part-time teacher at Lewis and
14 Clark Community College and was retired from the Illinois State
15 Board of Education; he also was a former principal at North
16 Greene High School, Elmwood High School, and Williamsville High
17 School; he was a former football, basketball, and track coach;
18 and
 
19     WHEREAS, Mr. Stankoven was a member of Ss. Mary and Joseph
20 Catholic Church in Carlinville, where he was a past board
21 member of the parish council; he was a past member of Knights
22 of Columbus; he was involved with The Witness for 17 years; and
 
23     WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. Stankoven has been deeply felt
24 by many, especially his wife, Kathryn E.; his son, John (wife,
25 Beth) Stankoven; his daughter, Karen (husband, Scott) Howard;
26 his five grandchildren; his mother, Jenny M. Stankoven; and his
27 several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
28     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
29 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of

1 Jack L. Stankoven, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his
2 friends, family, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
3 further
 
4     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to the family of Jack L. Stankoven as an expression
6 of our sincere condolences.
