SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Jack Burgess Sr. of Caseyville, formerly of East St. Louis, on February 23, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Jack Burgess Sr. was born in Collinsville on May 26, 1941, to Donald V. and Ruth I. (nee Campbell) Burgess; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Burgess retired after 29 years as a patrolman for the East St. Louis Police Department; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of the Hercules Lodge 90 I.B.P.O.E. of W. of East St. Louis; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Jack Burgess Sr. will be deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Mary (nee Moore) Burgess; his two sons, Jack L. Burgess Jr. and Jimmy D. (Katrina) Burgess; his daughter, Cynthia A. Dedmon; his four grandchildren, Stacey Burgess, Crystal Burgess, Dean Burgess, and Amanda Dedmon; his four sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet (James "Butch") Biggs, Shirley (Ron) Gallatin, Joyce (Mike) Hollowell, and Sherry Stark; and his special friend, Robert Thompson; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Donald E. Burgess; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of Jack Burgess Sr. along with all who knew and loved him and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jack Burgess Sr. as a token of our deepest sympathy.
