SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Jack A. Montague of Pittsburg, who died as a result of an attack on a fuel convoy in Fallujah, Iraq; and

WHEREAS, Jack Montague was born on September 12, 1951, to Chester and Betty (Barnfield) Montague in Chicago; he married Betsy Hanson and together they had shared 27 years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Montague was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and previously worked on the railroad; he worked as a truck driver for the past 22 years, and was most recently employed by Halliburton; and

WHEREAS, His plan was to go to Iraq with KBR, a subsidiary of Halliburton Co., the company contracted by the United States to help rebuild the devastated country, and work for one year and then retire; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Montague was a great friend to all who knew him; he had an unforgettable personality and "he would always put a smile on your face"; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Jack A. Montague will be deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Betsy; his daughter, Jacquelyne; his mother, Betty Montague; his mother-in-law, Claudia Hanson; his three brothers, John Montague, David Montague, and Rusty Montague; and his two sisters, Dorothy Kettell and Jeanie Montague; and

WHEREAS, His father preceded him in death; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of Jack A. Montague along with all who knew and loved him and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jack A. Montague as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
