| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| were saddened to learn of the death in the line of duty of |
| 4 |
| Paramedic and Firefighter Jeffrey C. Bergstrom on April 27, |
| 5 |
| 2004; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Jeffrey Bergstrom, the son of Fay and the late |
| 7 |
| Charles Bergstrom, was born on January 18, 1970, and had |
| 8 |
| desired to be a firefighter from the time that he was four |
| 9 |
| years old; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Jeffrey Bergstrom was a Paramedic with the Chicago |
| 11 |
| Fire Department Local Number 2, Ambulance Company 44, and |
| 12 |
| worked part-time as a firefighter and paramedic for the Village |
| 13 |
| of Stone Park Fire Department; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Jeffrey Bergstrom loved his job with the Chicago |
| 15 |
| Fire Department and continued working part-time for the Stone |
| 16 |
| Park Fire Department because he loved being a firefighter and |
| 17 |
| saving lives; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Jeffrey Bergstrom died in the line of duty when |
| 19 |
| the Stone Park fire engine in which he was riding collided with |
| 20 |
| a Northlake fire engine as both crews responded to a garage |
| 21 |
| fire in Leyden Township; and
|
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, Jeffrey Bergstrom is remembered by his many |
| 23 |
| friends and colleagues for his light-hearted attitude, his |
| 24 |
| dedication to his job, and his love of motorcycles, fast cars, |
| 25 |
| and napping; and
|
| 26 |
| WHEREAS, Jeffrey Bergstrom's passing was deeply felt by |
| 27 |
| many, especially his mother, Fay Bergstrom; his sister, |
| 28 |
| Jennifer; his brother-in-law Jeremiah Brainerd; his niece |
| 29 |
| Sydney; his fellow firefighters; and his many friends and |
