SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Mary A. Wegrzyn (nee Merlock) of North Chicago on Saturday, June 12, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Wegrzyn was born March 28, 1917, in North Chicago, where she lived all of her life before moving to Alden Nursing Home; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Wegrzyn had worked as a cook at Old Elm Country Club in Highland Park; she was a former member of Holy Family Church in North Chicago and the Altar and Rosary Society, St. Ann's K.S.K.J. Lodge #127, St. Mary's Lodge, Royal Neighbors Of America, and was a Red Cross Volunteer; she was active in her community and also ran for Alderman; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Mary A. Wegrzyn has been deeply felt by many, especially her children, Donald (Gail) Wegrzyn, Frank (Carol) Wegerson, and Marie Anuta; her grandchildren, Cheryl Matheson, Karen Wegrzyn, Douglas Wegrzyn, Nancy, Elizabeth, and Michael Wegerson, and Heather, Elliott, and Lindsey Anuta; her great-grandchildren, Tim and Taylor Matheson and Melissa and Jack Wegrzyn; she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 1972; her brothers, Frank, John, and Stanley Merlock; and her sisters, Anna Merlock, Frances Marolt, and Tittle Marcelain; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mary A. Wegrzyn, and we extend our sincerest condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary A. Wegrzyn as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
