 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  were  saddened  to  learn  of  the  death of Lallie
 4    Stoddard; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mrs. Stoddard was born to Isaac Brown  and  Roxy
 6    Holman-Brown  on October 2,1911 in Columbus, Mississippi; she
 7    was the ninth of twelve children; and

 8        WHEREAS, Mrs. Stoddard was a member of the Prairie  Grove
 9    Baptist   Church,   in   Columbus,   Mississippi,  under  the
10    leadership of Rev. Cornelius Williams,  where  she  gave  her
11    life to Christ at an early age; and

12        WHEREAS,  Mrs.  Stoddard was united in marriage to Willie
13    Walker, Sr. and born to that union were 4 children; a set  of
14    twins, Mary and Martha, Anna, and Willie Jr.; and

15        WHEREAS, Mrs. Stoddard moved to Maywood, Illinois in 1936
16    where she joined Second Baptist Church under the Pastorate of
17    the late Rev. Robert A. Hayden, Sr.; following his death, she
18    was  under  the  leadership  of  Pastor Wallace W. Sykes; she
19    served faithfully  and  remained  totally  committed  to  her
20    Church until she became too weak to serve any longer; she was
21    affectionately known as "GRANNY" by all; and

22        WHEREAS,  Mrs. Stoddard met Joshua Stoddard, known to his
23    family as "SON" and the  two  became  one,  uniting  in  holy
24    matrimony  in  May,  1949;  and to this union, she openly and
25    lovingly accepted two stepsons  into  her  life,  Ernest  and
26    James (Sonya); and

27        WHEREAS,  Mrs. Stoddard worked for Richardson Company for
28    a number of years; she was a faithful employee for  the  U.S.
29    Postal Service until she retired; and

30        WHEREAS,  Mrs.  Stoddard  was  very committed to her many

 1    ministries at Second  Baptist;  she  proudly  and  faithfully
 2    served  in many areas of the Church which included The Senior
 3    Gospel Choir, Sick and Shut In Ministry, and she  took  great
 4    pride in The Youth Ministry; and

 5        WHEREAS,  Mrs.  Stoddard's passing will be deeply felt by
 6    all; she leaves to cherish her memory her son, Willie Walker,
 7    Jr.    (Adele);    her    sister,    Ida     Haywood;     her
 8    stepdaughter-in-law,   Sonya   Stoddard;  her  grandchildren,
 9    Janice,  Senita  (Cecil),  Barbara,  Gary   (Gail),   Cynthia
10    (Richard),   James  Reed,  Pamela,  and  Van  Eric;  her  ten
11    great-grandchildren; her  sixteen  great-great-grandchildren;
12    her  favorite  niece,  Althea Harris (Arniclus); her favorite
13    nephew,  Joe  C.  Haywood  (Shawna);  and  a  host  of  other
14    relatives and friends; and

15        WHEREAS, Mrs. Stoddard  was  preceded  in  death  by  her
16    children,  Mary,  Martha  and  Anna; her stepsons, Ernest and
17    James; her  grandson,  DeWayne;  and  ten  of  her  siblings;
18    therefore, be it

19        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
20    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
21    Lallie Stoddard and extend our  sincere  condolences  to  her
22    family, friends, and church community; and be it further

23        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
24    presented to the family of Lallie Stoddard as  an  expression
25    of our sympathy.
