SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with deep regret of the death of Richard "Coconut" Neal
4 of Benton on Friday, July 23, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Neal was born March 1, 1947 in Benton to
6 Carnell and Margaret Juanita (Fielden) Neal; he graduated from
7 BCHS in 1965; he married the former Cathy Barbeiro on May 23,
8 1970 in Hanford, California; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mr. Neal valiantly served his country in the U.S.
10 Navy in Vietnam for four years; he was a coal miner for 17
11 years at Old Ben Coal Mine No. 21, a prison guard for the
12 Illinois Department of Corrections, and was last employed by
13 IDOT; and
 
14     WHEREAS, An avid fisherman whose fish were as big as his
15 next story, he most of all adored playing with his two
16 grandchildren, Aaron and Kiley; and
 
17     WHEREAS, The passing of Richard "Coconut" Neal has been
18 deeply felt by many, and he will be sadly missed by his wife,
19 Cathy; his daughter, Tiffany, and husband Todd Lucas; his son,
20 Cameron Neal, and his girlfriend Amy Brown; his very special
21 grandchildren, Aaron Paul Lucas and Kiley Mae Neal; and his
22 father, Carnell Neal; Mr. Neal and his family had a very
23 special caregiver and friend, Shelley Webb, from Hospice of
24 Southern Illinois; he was preceded in death by his mother;
25 therefore, be it
 
26     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
27 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
28 Richard A. "Coconut" Neal, and we extend our deepest sympathy
29 to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
30 it further

1     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Mr. Neal as an expression of our
3 sincerest condolences.
