SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Charlie Mae Funderburk of Winthrop Harbor on Saturday, August 7, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Charlie was born on December 9, 1913 in Fulton, Mississippi; she moved to Zion in 1950 from Red Bay, Alabama and has lived in Winthrop Harbor since 1974; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Funderburk was a member of First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor, and she was secretary/treasurer of Funderburk Builders, Inc. of Winthrop Harbor; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Charlie Mae Funderburk has been deeply felt by many, especially her daughter, Nellie (Don) Osborne; her son, Jim (Wendi) Funderburk; her grandchildren, Deborah (fiance, Paul Kisielewski) Cagle, April (Ron) Kaiser, Lorrie (fiance, Sultan Jumani) Funderburk, and Jamie (Aixa) Funderburk; her great-grandchildren, Rita, Amy, Jason, Matthew, and Kyle; her sisters, Sue (Robert) Miller and Dezzie (James) Davis; and her sisters-in-law, Bernice Works, Bill Works, Raider Truelove, and Wilma Funderburk; she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin C. Funderburk; her granddaughter, Jane Bautista; her brothers, Arnold, Jim, and Arnie Works; and her sister, Robbie Weeks; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charlie Mae Funderburk, and we extend our deepest sympathy to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ms. Funderburk as an expression of our sincere condolences.
