| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of this Body are honored to recognize |
| 3 |
| significant milestones in the lives of the people of this |
| 4 |
| State; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mrs. Vera Wright |
| 6 |
| of Chicago is celebrating the 100th anniversary of her birth; |
| 7 |
| and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Vera Wright was born August 8, 1904; she migrated |
| 9 |
| from Lexington, Mississippi, to Chicago in the 1940s; after |
| 10 |
| securing gainful employment, she was able to send for her nine |
| 11 |
| children in small numbers until they were all together; she |
| 12 |
| later settled in the West Chesterfield community, where she has |
| 13 |
| been a resident for over 50 years; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Wright retired in 1968 from Charles Hyman |
| 15 |
| Sportswear; she also taught sewing and crocheting classes |
| 16 |
| through the Adult Education Department at Olive Harvey College; |
| 17 |
| she enjoys crocheting, gardening, and traveling; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Family is very important to Mrs. Wright, and she |
| 19 |
| is extremely special to her family; her family considers her |
| 20 |
| advice timely as well as timeless, and she does not hesitate to |
| 21 |
| offer her advice, whether solicited or not; she will be honored |
| 22 |
| at a special celebration on August 7, 2004; and
|
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Wright is the proud mother of nine children, |
| 24 |
| four of whom are deceased; the grandmother of 25 grandchildren; |
| 25 |
| the great-grandmother of 27 great grandchildren; and the |
| 26 |
| great-great-grandmother of 27 great-great-grandchildren; |
| 27 |
