HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of this Body are honored to recognize
3 significant milestones in the lives of the people of this
4 State; and
 
5     WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mrs. Vera Wright
6 of Chicago is celebrating the 100th anniversary of her birth;
7 and
 
8     WHEREAS, Vera Wright was born August 8, 1904; she migrated
9 from Lexington, Mississippi, to Chicago in the 1940s; after
10 securing gainful employment, she was able to send for her nine
11 children in small numbers until they were all together; she
12 later settled in the West Chesterfield community, where she has
13 been a resident for over 50 years; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Mrs. Wright retired in 1968 from Charles Hyman
15 Sportswear; she also taught sewing and crocheting classes
16 through the Adult Education Department at Olive Harvey College;
17 she enjoys crocheting, gardening, and traveling; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Family is very important to Mrs. Wright, and she
19 is extremely special to her family; her family considers her
20 advice timely as well as timeless, and she does not hesitate to
21 offer her advice, whether solicited or not; she will be honored
22 at a special celebration on August 7, 2004; and
 
23     WHEREAS, Mrs. Wright is the proud mother of nine children,
24 four of whom are deceased; the grandmother of 25 grandchildren;
25 the great-grandmother of 27 great grandchildren; and the
26 great-great-grandmother of 27 great-great-grandchildren;
27 therefore, be it
 
28     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
29 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

1 congratulate Mrs. Vera Wright on reaching the distinguished and
2 impressive age of 100, and we extend to her our sincere best
3 wishes for the future; and be it further
 
4     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to Mrs. Vera Wright as an expression of our respect
6 and esteem.
