 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, Mary Dillon Leonard has announced her retirement
 3    effective June 30, 2003 from the Chicago Public Schools after
 4    20 years of service to Henry L. Clissold School; and

 5        WHEREAS,  Mary  began  teaching  at  Clissold  School  in
 6    September of 1983, and since that time she has instructed and
 7    nurtured over 350 students; and

 8        WHEREAS, Mary has  been  a  Montessori  Head  teacher  in
 9    multi-age  classrooms  of  children  from kindergarten age to
10    fourth grade; and

11        WHEREAS,  She  has  been  the  supervising  teacher   for
12    countless  student teachers and has served many years on both
13    the Local School  Council  and  the  Education  Committee  of
14    Clissold School; and

15        WHEREAS,  Mary  was  instrumental  in  rediscovering  the
16    Clissold School Song and making it part of her opening lesson
17    and the opening of all school assemblies; and

18        WHEREAS,  When  Mary traveled outside Chicago; she always
19    brought back pictures, anecdotes,  and  artifacts  from  many
20    places  including  Australia, China, and Turkey to enrich her
21    students' lives and show them there is  a  world  outside  of
22    their classroom; and

23        WHEREAS,  Mary's  devotion  and  commitment  to  Clissold
24    School  has enriched the lives of her students and earned her
25    the respect and admiration of  her  friends  and  co-workers;
26    therefore, be it

27        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
28    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
29    we  congratulate  Mary  Dillon  Leonard  for  her 20 years of
30    devoted service  to  the  students  and  staff  at  Henry  L.

 1    Clissold  School,  and  we  wish  her  a  rich  and rewarding
 2    retirement; and be it further

 3        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 4    presented  to  Mary  Dillon  Leonard  as an expression of our
 5    respect and esteem.
