SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
745 ILCS 49/10

    Amends the Good Samaritan Act. Makes a technical change in the Section concerning immunity from civil liability for providing emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation to an apparent victim of acute cardiopulmonary insufficiency.

1    AN ACT concerning civil law.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Good Samaritan Act is amended by changing
5Section 10 as follows:
 
6    (745 ILCS 49/10)
7    Sec. 10. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation; exemption from
8civil liability for emergency care. Any person trained in
9basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation who has successfully
10completed training in accordance with the the standards of the
11American Red Cross or the American Heart Association and who
12in good faith, not for compensation, provides emergency
13cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with his or her
14training to a person who is an apparent victim of acute
15cardiopulmonary insufficiency shall not, as the result of his
16or her acts or omissions in providing resuscitation, be liable
17for civil damages, unless the acts or omissions constitute
18willful and wanton misconduct.
