SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

625 ILCS 5/11-1433 new

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a person who, while operating a snowplow on a State or local street, road or highway, hits a publicly owned or privately owned mailbox as a result of the person's acts or omissions shall be issued a citation on the person's driving record. Provides that a person issued a citation may respond to the citation in person or by any method allowed by law.

AN ACT concerning transportation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding Section 11-1433 as follows:

(625 ILCS 5/11-1433 new)

Sec. 11-1433. Citation for hitting a mailbox with a snowplow. A person who, while operating a snowplow on a State or local street, road or highway, hits a publicly owned or privately owned mailbox as a result of the person's acts or omissions shall be issued a citation on the person's driving record. A person issued a citation under this Section may respond to the citation in person or by any method allowed by law.
