HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend their colleague,
4Representative Tom Morrison, on the occasion of his retirement
5as State Representative of the 54th District; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rep. Morrison is a former small business owner in
7the field of residential and commercial disaster cleanup and
8restoration; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Rep. Morrison is a proud graduate of Hillsdale
10College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Rep. Morrison was elected as a state
13representative from Illinois' 54th District in 2011; he served
14the people of portions of Palatine, Inverness, Rolling
15Meadows, Hoffman Estates, Arlington Heights, and Schaumburg;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Rep. Morrison served on the
18Appropriations-General Service Committee as the Republican
19spokesperson, the Personnel & Pensions Committee, the
20Insurance Committee, the Elementary and Second Education:
21Administration, Licensing & Charter Schools Committee as the

1Republican spokesperson, the Energy & Environment Committee,
2the Human Services Committee, the Special Issues Subcommittee
3(ESE), the Local Retirement System Subcommittee, the
4Miscellaneous Issues Subcommittee, the Pension Reform
5Subcommittee, and the Property Tax Relief Task Force; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rep. Morrison was selected to the Council of
7State Government's Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership
8Development program in 2011 and the inaugural class of the
9Edgar Fellows Program in 2012; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Rep. Morrison was one of the first of many
11Illinois legislators to entirely opt-out of the State's
12pension systems; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Rep. Morrison is a former fifth grade teacher at
14Christian Liberty Academy, where he served for six years, and
15a former radio news broadcaster; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Rep. Morrison has supported and has spoken at
17meetings for Avenues to Independence, a non-profit, charitable
18organization that supports over 200 individuals with autism,
19cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, and other intellectual,
20physical, and developmental disabilities; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Rep. Morrison has held a "Baby Closet Drive"

1annually in his district to collect necessary supplies for
2families in need; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Rep. Morrison was named as a Champion of Free
4Enterprise by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce in 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rep. Morrison was named as a Friend of
6Manufacturing in 2018 for his support of the Illinois
7manufacturing and business community; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Rep. Morrison is the proud husband of his wife
9Bethany and proud father to their four children; therefore, be
10it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we commend Representative Tom Morrison on his distinguished
14service as State Representative of the 54th District and wish
15him all the best in his future endeavors; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to
17Representative Morrison as a symbol of our esteem and respect
18for our colleague and friend.
