SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Alvin Don Carlton, who passed away on November 4, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Don Carlton was born to John E. and Mary E. (Martin) Carlton in Calhoun County on September 16, 1934; he married Catherine Elizabeth Hoaglin in Pittsfield on June 20, 1953; and

WHEREAS, Don Carlton worked as a tow motor operator for Laclede Steel for 30 years; after his retirement, he became a laborer for the street department of the Village of East Alton; and

WHEREAS, Don Carlton was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his grandson, Jonah Naylor; his brothers, John E. and Delbert Berdette Carlton; his sisters, Dorlene Hendrickson, Lily Mae Waggoner, and Edna Johnson; and his son-in-law, Mike Cobbel; and

WHEREAS, Don Carlton is survived by his son, Darren (Robin) Carlton; his daughters, Robin Cobbel and Cathy Carlton; his seven grandchildren; his six great-grandchildren; and his brother, Merlin W. Carlton; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Alvin Don Carlton and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Don Carlton as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
