SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lester Melvin Hillier of Coal Valley, who passed away on April 10, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Lester Hillier was born in Rock Island on March 18, 1933; he graduated from United Township High School in 1951 and then served in the U.S. Navy; he married Linda Lockwood in Rock Island on May 20, 1997; and

WHEREAS, Lester Hillier owned and operated the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in downtown Davenport, Iowa for 54 years, retiring in 2013; and

WHEREAS, Lester Hillier enjoyed dancing and teaching, taking pictures, and being a pilot; and

WHEREAS, Lester Hillier was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Lester Hillier is survived by his wife; his children, Steele (Corina), Lamont, Tara, Nichole (Gary), and Joe (Tiffany); his grandchildren, Jay, Jared, Tate (Emmalee), Emma, Chiara, Ashlin, and Cale; and his many beloved friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lester Melvin Hillier and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lester Hillier as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
