1     AN ACT concerning transportation.

2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:

4     Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5 Section 3-423 as follows:

6     (625 ILCS 5/3-423 new)
7     Sec. 3-423. Registration fees; reimbursement. The
8 Secretary of State shall adopt rules to reimburse an
9 applicant's registration fees for the 2023 registration year
10 in which an applicant received a citation for expired
11 registration as a result of a misprinted registration sticker
12 upon the applicant providing proof of the citation to the
13 Secretary of State. Notwithstanding any other provision of
14 law, the Secretary of State must authorize the refund from a
15 fund from which appropriations are made to the Secretary of
16 State for the purpose of refunding registration fees.
