HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Brown County Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team, the Hornets, on winning the 2023-2024 Illinois Elementary School Association Class 2A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Hornets claimed their championship by defeating Central A&M Middle School on February 15, 2024 by a score of 51 to 33 at Bishop McNamara High School in Kankakee; and

WHEREAS, The Hornets compiled a record of 29 wins and 1 loss during the course of their championship run; and

WHEREAS, The Hornets did not allow more than eight points in the first quarter in any of the state tournament games, outscoring their opponents 42 to 21; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Brown County Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team, the Hornets, on winning the 2023-2024 Illinois Elementary School Association Class 2A State Championship, and we wish them many for successful seasons; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Hornets' players and coaches as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
