HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Reverend Jarvis J.
4Hanson, D.Min. on the occasion of his 17 years of pastoral
5service at the New Nazareth Baptist Church of Chicago; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rev. Hanson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion
7from Faith International University, a Bachelor of Arts in
8Ministry from Newburgh Bible College, a Master of Arts in
9Pastoral Studies from Lake Charles Theological Seminary, and
10both a Master of Arts in Theology and a Doctor of Ministry from
11St. Thomas Christian University; he completed his Clinical
12Pastoral Education (CPE) Level 1 Certification through the
13Sankofa Clinical Pastoral Education Center; he is a board
14certified Christian counselor doctoral diplomat through the
15International Association Of Christian Counseling
16Professionals, and he is currently a doctoral candidate in
17Christian counseling at the Trinity College of the Bible and
18Theological Seminary; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Rev. Hanson committed to his faith at an early
20age, beginning his stewardship at United Faith Missionary
21Baptist Church in Rockford at the age of 10; he then became the
22interim pastor of the New Direction Fellowship Missionary
23Baptist Church of Rockford at the age of 16, serving from March

12000 to August 2000; he was ordained as a minister at United
2Faith Missionary Baptist Church in November 2006; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Rev. Hanson currently serves as pastor of the
4historic New Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church of Chicago,
5celebrating his 17 years of service on April 28, 2024; he
6remains dedicated to leading his congregation with grace and
7dignity, and his work includes traveling throughout the State
8of Illinois and the U.S. to offer preaching, teaching, and
9lecturing; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Rev. Hanson serves as director of the Young
11Pastors Division and chairman of the Moderator's Division for
12the Baptist General State Convention of Illinois, a moderator
13of the Greater New Era Baptist District Association of Chicago
14and Vicinity, an adjunct professor of Homiletics for Chicago
15Baptist Institute International, and as a certified dean
16through the Sunday School Publishing Board of the National
17Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.; he also belongs to the South
18Shore Ministerial Alliance of Chicago and Vicinity; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Rev. Hanson has been nominated for induction into
20the Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers at Morehouse
21College; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Rev. Hanson is the husband of Brandy Hanson and

1the father of Alycen-Grace Michele Hanson; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
3HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
4we congratulate Reverend Jarvis J. Hanson, D.Min. on his
517-year pastoral anniversary at the New Nazareth Missionary
6Baptist Church of Chicago, and we wish him continued success;
7and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to Rev. Hanson as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
