SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Wolfgang William "Wolf" Gustaveson, who passed away on December 4, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Wolf Gustaveson was born to Jason Gustaveson and Janessa Nikols on September 22, 2004; he graduated from Maine East High School in Park Ridge and was a freshman at Southern Illinois University, where he was majoring in automotive technology; and

WHEREAS, Wolf Gustaveson loved cars and anything with an engine; he also enjoyed snowboarding and baseball; he had a contagious laugh, lit up a room, and had a knack for making others feel comfortable and welcome; and

WHEREAS, Wolf Gustaveson was always willing to lend a helping hand; he was a hardworking and strong individual; he was loyal, loved learning, and loved a challenge; he stood up for what was right, despite the consequences; he not only found but created community and connections wherever he was, be it on the field, with his friends and family, helping others, or tinkering with machines; and

WHEREAS, Wolf Gustaveson's kindness, heart, commitment, and humor were evident in how he engaged life and with people all around him; he touched the lives of so many and will be dearly missed and forever remembered; he was an incredible son, brother, cousin, grandson, nephew, and friend to many; and

WHEREAS, Wolf Gustaveson was the beloved son of Jason Gustaveson and Janessa Nikols; the loving brother of Grace and Henry; the dear grandson of Janeen and Morgan O'Brien and Dee and the late William Gustaveson; the cherished nephew of Kathy (Dennis) Wogen, Krissy (Bill) Lucas, Bob (Jolene) Gustaveson, Jonathan (Lesley) Nikols, Joy (Joe) Krelle, Chris (Marge) Wagner, Rachel O'Brien, and Erin O'Brien; the proud cousin of Marcus Gustaveson, Tyler Wogen, Olivia and Emma Lucas, Jacinda, Jeremy, and Joshua Gustaveson, Emily, Caleb, Mallory, and Colton Nikols, Cate and Maddie Krelle, Zach, Alex, and Clay Wagner, and Noah and Hannah O'Brien; and the revered friend of many, including his "crew" and SIU family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Wolfgang William "Wolf" Gustaveson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Wolf Gustaveson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
