SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Matthew Hutti of Charleston, who passed away on December 30, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Matthew Hutti was born to Stephen L. and Deborah L. Greiner Hutti on June 26, 1979; he graduated from Charleston High School in 1998; he earned his bachelor's degree from Fontbonne University in St. Louis in 2002 and his Master of Science in Sports Management from Eastern Illinois University in 2007; and

WHEREAS, Matthew Hutti initially worked as a cast member at Disney World in Florida before returning to Charleston, where he became a substitute teacher; and

WHEREAS, Matthew Hutti was elected to the Charleston City Council for three terms, striving to ensure all residents had access to positive opportunities; during his time in office, he focused his support on Lake Charleston, the Linder City Sports Complex, and the upcoming improvements to Douglas Drive; and

WHEREAS, Matthew Hutti embarked on many adventures in life, including dogsledding, parasailing, kayaking, skiing, zip-lining, hot air ballooning, motorcycling, and horseback riding; and

WHEREAS, Matthew Hutti, who never let his disability hold him back, was known for his generosity, being a good listener, and understanding the importance of relationships; and

WHEREAS, Matthew Hutti was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Richard Greiner and Isabelle Greiner; his paternal grandparents, Lawrence Hutti and Mary Jane Hutti; his cousin, Danny Greiner; and his uncle, David Hutti; and

WHEREAS, Matthew Hutti is survived by his parents; his siblings, Timothy P. Hutti, Patrick S. (Colleen Hollestelle) Hutti, and Heather H. (Sean) Kelly; his nephews and niece, Max D. Hutti, Cosette K. Hutti, Aidan Matthew Hutti, and Nolan P. Kelly; his godparents, Rebecca Hill and Mark Hutti; his goddaughter, Tess Isabelle Hill; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Matthew Hutti and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Matthew Hutti as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
