    Amends the Public Utilities Act in relation to the regulation of telecommunications carriers. Makes a technical change in a Section relating to tariff filings.

1     AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by changing
5 Section 13-501 as follows:
 
6     (220 ILCS 5/13-501)  (from Ch. 111 2/3, par. 13-501)
7     (Section scheduled to be repealed on July 1, 2005)
8     Sec. 13-501. Tariff; filing.
9     (a) No telecommunications carrier shall offer or provide
10 telecommunications service unless and and until a tariff is
11 filed with the Commission which describes the nature of the
12 service, applicable rates and other charges, terms and
13 conditions of service, and the exchange, exchanges or other
14 geographical area or areas in which the service shall be
15 offered or provided. The Commission may prescribe the form of
16 such tariff and any additional data or information which shall
17 be included therein.
18     (b) After a hearing, the Commission has the discretion to
19 impose an interim or permanent tariff on a telecommunications
20 carrier as part of the order in the case. When a tariff is
21 imposed as part of the order in a case, the tariff shall remain
22 in full force and effect until a compliance tariff, or
23 superseding tariff, is filed by the telecommunications carrier
24 and, after notice to the parties in the case and after a
25 compliance hearing is held, is found by the Commission to be in
26 compliance with the Commission's order.
