1     AN ACT concerning education.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Board of Higher Education Act is amended by
5 adding Section 9.30 as follows:
 
6     (110 ILCS 205/9.30 new)
7     Sec. 9.30. Course transferability program.
8     (a) Subject to appropriation, the Board shall implement and
9 administer a statewide program, using the World Wide Web, to
10 assist students, advisors, faculty, and administrators from
11 public and private institutions of higher education in
12 obtaining consistent and accurate information about transfer
13 courses and their applicability towards degree completion by
14 publishing course equivalency guides, academic programs,
15 courses offered, transfer course evaluations, and degree
16 requirements.
17     (b) Under the program, the Board shall provide appropriate
18 assistance and support to participating public and private
19 institutions of higher education. The Board shall designate
20 participants based on which institutions apply to be part of
21 the program. However, all data shall be managed by each
22 institution of higher education and each institution shall
23 retain complete ownership of the data submitted.
24     (c) The program's Internet website shall contain the
25 following:
26         (1) Transfer course articulations, which shall be
27     updated annually.
28         (2) Institutional reference tables.
29         (3) Degree requirements, which shall be updated
30     annually.
31         (4) Course banks, which shall be updated annually.
32         (5) Academic program pull down menus, which shall be

1     updated annually.
 
2     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
3 becoming law.
