1 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The residents of Big Island have announced their
3 plan to improve the corridor of Big Island; and

4     WHEREAS, Blackhawk Township on April 4, 2006 adopted a
5 resolution to change the name of Big Island Road to Big Island
6 Parkway on the portion of Big Island Road maintained by
7 Blackhawk Township; and

8     WHEREAS, The Supervisor and Road Commissioner of Blackhawk
9 Township have requested that the remaining portion of Big
10 Island Road, maintained by the Illinois Department of
11 Transportation, also be renamed Big Island Parkway; therefore,
12 be it

13     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
15 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that the portion of Big Island Road
16 maintained by the Illinois Department of Transportation be
17 renamed Big Island Parkway; and be it further

18     RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
19 is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
20 State regulations, appropriate plaques or signs giving notice
21 of the name; and be it further

22     RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
23 delivered to the Secretary of the Illinois Department of
24 Transportation, to Blackhawk Township Supervisor Charles
25 Layer, and to Blackhawk Township Road Commissioner Douglas
26 House.
