HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Illinois Fire Service is experiencing problems with self dispatching of equipment and personnel for both State and national responses to emergency scenes without formal approval by a coordinating authority; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois Fire Service Caucus members have requested an end to self dispatching because of its potential to degrade continuity of operations and the critical infrastructure protection of both the sending and receiving jurisdictions; and

WHEREAS, Stopping self dispatching will reduce confusion and risk at an emergency scene by reducing the need to commit additional resources to the management of those people and equipment that self dispatched to the scene; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we encourage the prohibition of self dispatching by State and national response services; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Illinois Fire Service Caucus.
