HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for the
5 people of the State of Illinois; and
 
6     WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs.
7 Tony Musso will celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of their
8 marriage; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Tony and Lee were friends growing up in the
10 neighborhood of 79th and Carpenter; Tony attended DeLaSalle and
11 Calumet High Schools, and Lee attended Calumet High School,
12 where they were high school sweethearts; and
 
13     WHEREAS, They were united in holy matrimony on June 15,
14 1946, at St. Leo Church after Tony returned from World War II,
15 where he served in the South Pacific; for years, Mr. Musso
16 worked as a barber at 80th and Halsted; Mrs. Musso operated a
17 popcorn stand across from the Capitol Theatre at 80th and
18 Halsted; she also worked in the family business, Vito's Tavern
19 at 79th and Carpenter; Vito's Tavern has become Vito and Nick's
20 Pizzeria and Lounge, located at 84th and Pulaski, where Mrs.
21 Musso still works and customers always ask to sit at her
22 tables; and
 
23     WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of Frank Vito Musso,
24 who they adopted in 1958 from Marsala, Italy; he was born on
25 March 3, 1958; he married Joan Hynes on May 3, 1980; Lee and
26 Tony are also the proud grandparents of Christine M. Knowles
27 (married to Cory Knowles), Anthony F. Musso, Colleen M. Musso,
28 Frank V. Musso, and Vincent M. Musso; and
 
29     WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its
30 highest plateaus when a couple such as Tony and Lee celebrate

1 their diamond wedding anniversary; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Tony and Lee stand as examples of the best of our
3 society, and their love and devotion to each other and to their
4 family and friends serve as a reminder to all that hard work,
5 dedication, and love can make a difference in today's world;
6 therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9 we congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Herman Musso on the
10 occasion of their sixtieth wedding anniversary, and we commend
11 them for achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with
12 family and rich in friendships; and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to them as an expression of our respect and esteem
15 and with our wishes for happiness and good health in the
16 future.
