HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Shirley J. Szabo of Munster, Indiana, on Sunday, April 16, 2006; and

WHEREAS, She was born on April 26, 1928, in Virden; she was the mother of United Transportation Union Illinois State Legislative Director Joe Szabo and was the wife of 57 years of retired Illinois Central conductor/switchman Joseph F. Szabo of Local 1299 in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Szabo was a member of the First United Methodist Church and "Crafty" Ladies; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Shirley J. Szabo has been deeply felt by many, especially her husband, Joe; her daughters, Jo Carol (Tom) Clark, Susan (Rick) Stables, and Peggy Szabo; her sons, Joseph C. Szabo and Clark (Diana) Szabo; her granddaughters, Megan Stables, and Carly, Tori, and Natalie Szabo; her sister, Betty Braden; her brother, Donald (Helen) Clark; and her several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Shirley J. Szabo, and we extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to her family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
