HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Mt. Vernon Register-News newspaper was recently the recipient of numerous awards at the Southern Illinois Editorial Association's Annual meeting; and

WHEREAS, The newspaper placed second in the Best Editorial Page category and third in the newspaper design competition; and

WHEREAS, It also received honorable mentions in the categories of Best Local News Coverage, Best Local Sports Coverage, Best Use of Photography, and Advertising Excellence; and

WHEREAS, Managing Editor Mary Kay Davis received second place in the Best Feature Category for her article on the recovery of a critically injured victim of a train/vehicle accident; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Register-News staff on being the recipient of numerous awards at the Southern Illinois Editorial Association's Annual meeting; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Register-News as an expression of our esteem.
