| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The Schorsch Village Improvement Association will |
| 3 |
| celebrate its Diamond Anniversary on Saturday, September 16, |
| 4 |
| 2006, at Schorsch Village Hall, 6940 W. Belmont in Chicago; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, On July 13, 1931, the Schorsch Village Improvement |
| 6 |
| Association held the first meeting of an association of |
| 7 |
| neighbors of 70 home owners for the purposes of organizing an |
| 8 |
| improvement and social group for the mutual benefit of their |
| 9 |
| neighborhood, including holiday celebrations, picnics, dances, |
| 10 |
| enforcement of the local laws, and protecting themselves with |
| 11 |
| strict enforcement of building and fire ordinances, and always |
| 12 |
| looking for new ways to beautify and improve their village; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, The Schorsch Village Improvement Association |
| 14 |
| received a Charter of Incorporation on May 29, 1939, to |
| 15 |
| incorporate the above purposes for residences of outstanding |
| 16 |
| architectural design, grammar schools, and high schools in |
| 17 |
| their district for their children and churches for their |
| 18 |
| parishioners, and the publishing of a newsletter called "The |
| 19 |
| Schorsch Village Informer"; therefore, be it
|
| 20 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 21 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 22 |
| we congratulate the residents of Schorsch Village on the |
| 23 |
| Diamond Anniversary of the Schorsch Village Improvement |
| 24 |
| Association, and we offer our appreciation to them for 75 years |
| 25 |
| of service to the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois and |
| 26 |
| for their expression of the Chicago "I Will" spirit in the |
| 27 |
| maintenance and preservation of their beautiful, exemplary, |
| 28 |
| and outstanding community; and be it further
|
| 29 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 30 |
| presented to the Schorsch Village Improvement Association as an |
| 31 |
| expression of our esteem.
