HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, James J. Molloy, a St. Sabina graduate, was a 1969
3 graduate of Leo High School; James attended Loyola University
4 and worked his way through college at various jobs, until 1972;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, In 1972, James J. Molloy entered the Chicago
7 Police Academy and in March 1973, he graduated from the
8 Academy; as a Chicago Police Officer, James was first assigned
9 to patrol the streets in Gresham; in 1974, he graduated from
10 Loyola University with a Bachelor's degree in Business
11 Administration; and
 
12     WHEREAS, James J. Molloy moved through the ranks in the
13 Chicago Police Department serving, in succession, as a
14 patrolman, tactical officer, gang crimes investigator, and
15 sergeant; and
 
16     WHEREAS, From 1983 through 1987, James J. Molloy was
17 detailed to the Narcotics Section, Organized Crime Division; in
18 1988, he was promoted to Field Lieutenant of the 18th District;
19 later, he served as Field Lieutenant of the 9th District; in
20 1989, he was appointed to be a Tactical Lieutenant; and
 
21     WHEREAS, During 1994 and 1995, James J. Molloy served first
22 as the Commanding Officer of the Violent Crimes Detective
23 Division and then as the Commanding Officer of the Headquarters
24 Support Section of Detectives; and
 
25     WHEREAS, The 8th District is the most populous district in
26 Chicago and it also has the most calls for service; James J.
27 Molloy commanded the 8th District from 1998 through 2001; and
 
28     WHEREAS, In 2001, James J. Molloy was named Assistant
29 Deputy Superintendent and later was appointed to be the Chief

1 of Detectives; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Chicago Police Superintendent Phil Cline named
3 James J. Molloy to serve as the Deputy Superintendent of the
4 Chicago Police Department in June 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, James J. Molloy's Chicago Police Department
6 citations and decorations number in the hundreds; James is a
7 proud member of many police organizations and several Catholic
8 associations; and
 
9     WHEREAS, James J. Molloy was honored as a 2006 Leo High
10 School Hall of Fame Inductee and his exemplary record of public
11 service to the City of Chicago brings particular distinction to
12 the Leo Alumni Association; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15 we honor James J. Molloy for his dedicated and decorated career
16 in the Chicago Police Department and for his thirty-three years
17 of service to the City of Chicago; and be it further
 
18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to James J. Molloy as an expression of our esteem.
