| WHEREAS, The 42nd Chicago International Film Festival will |
| 3 |
| honor Steven Spielberg with its Lifetime Achievement Award, the |
| 4 |
| Gold Hugo, on July 15, 2006; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Spielberg is being honored for his outstanding |
| 6 |
| 33-year career in the film industry, during which time he has |
| 7 |
| been responsible for a vast number of landmark films that have |
| 8 |
| forever changed the landscape of motion pictures; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, His movies include Saving Private Ryan, Jaws, |
| 10 |
| Schindler's List, E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, Close |
| 11 |
| Encounters of the Third Kind, the Indiana Jones series, |
| 12 |
| Jurassic Park, The Color Purple, A.I.: Artificial |
| 13 |
| Intelligence, and Munich; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Spielberg will be honored at the Chicago |
| 15 |
| International Film Festival's Summer Gala during an award |
| 16 |
| ceremony at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers that will |
| 17 |
| include a celebration of Mr. Spielberg's career with film |
| 18 |
| highlights and comments from his colleagues and friends; |
| 19 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 21 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 22 |
| we congratulate Mr. Steven Spielberg on being this year's Gold |
| 23 |
| Hugo recipient, and we thank him for his dedication to the |
| 24 |
| craft that has produced such outstanding and beloved films |
| 25 |
| throughout the years; and be it further
|
| 26 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 27 |
| presented to Mr. Spielberg as an expression of our esteem.
