HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It is one of the privileges of the House of Representatives to commend and pay due honor and respect to persons who have given selflessly of themselves to the citizens of this State; and

WHEREAS, Robert Turner has dedicated 55 years of his life to the fire service; and

WHEREAS, Robert Turner started as a volunteer firefighter for the Rockton Fire Protection District in 1951; and

WHEREAS, From 1959 to 1962, he served on the executive board of the Winnebago Fire Chief's Association; and

WHEREAS, Robert Turner advanced through the ranks and attained the position of Chief of the Rockton Fire Protection District Department from 1971 to 1979; and

WHEREAS, Robert Turner was elected Charter Secretary for the National Volunteer Fire Council in 1976 and served that organization for many years; and

WHEREAS, Robert Turner served as the Rockton Fire Protection District's Board President in 1990; and

WHEREAS, Robert Turner served on the Illinois Firefighters Association Board of Directors for 18 years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Turner currently serves as a Trustee for the Rockton Fire Protection District; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Turner serves as a liaison between the Winnebago Chief's Association and the National Volunteer Fire Council; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Robert Turner for his 55 years of dedicated service to the Rockton Fire Protection District and his years of leadership in the fire service, and we thank him for his selfless devotion to the community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Robert Turner as an expression of our esteem.
