HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, It is one of the privileges of the House of
3 Representatives to commend and pay due honor and respect to
4 persons who have given selflessly of themselves to the citizens
5 of this State; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Robert Turner has dedicated 55 years of his life
7 to the fire service; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Robert Turner started as a volunteer firefighter
9 for the Rockton Fire Protection District in 1951; and
 
10     WHEREAS, From 1959 to 1962, he served on the executive
11 board of the Winnebago Fire Chief's Association; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Robert Turner advanced through the ranks and
13 attained the position of Chief of the Rockton Fire Protection
14 District Department from 1971 to 1979; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Robert Turner was elected Charter Secretary for
16 the National Volunteer Fire Council in 1976 and served that
17 organization for many years; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Robert Turner served as the Rockton Fire
19 Protection District's Board President in 1990; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Robert Turner served on the Illinois Firefighters
21 Association Board of Directors for 18 years; and
 
22     WHEREAS, Mr. Turner currently serves as a Trustee for the
23 Rockton Fire Protection District; and
 
24     WHEREAS, Mr. Turner serves as a liaison between the
25 Winnebago Chief's Association and the National Volunteer Fire
26 Council; therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3 we recognize Robert Turner for his 55 years of dedicated
4 service to the Rockton Fire Protection District and his years
5 of leadership in the fire service, and we thank him for his
6 selfless devotion to the community; and be it further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to Robert Turner as an expression of our esteem.
