| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, Hundreds of volunteers throughout the Bureau, |
| 3 |
| Putnam, and LaSalle County portions of the Illinois Valley have |
| 4 |
| done a tremendous job of organizing and completing Project |
| 5 |
| Santa Adopt-A-Soldier; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Project Santa has delivered 11,576 stockings to |
| 7 |
| U.S. soldiers; U.S. Army moms Kathy Cattani of Ladd and Heidi |
| 8 |
| Milner are the main leaders of Project Santa; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Sue Frund, Colleen DeArcos, Deb Abney, and Gail |
| 10 |
| Sims are key volunteers in Project Santa; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Boxes and boxes of stockings stuffed with holiday |
| 12 |
| treats from Project Santa have and are arriving on a daily |
| 13 |
| basis in such faraway places as Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, |
| 14 |
| Germany, and other areas; in addition to the stockings going to |
| 15 |
| the soldiers on current duty in Iraq, stockings are also going |
| 16 |
| to wounded soldiers at military medical facilities; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, The community's generosity has allowed Project |
| 18 |
| Santa to reach many more soldiers than originally thought |
| 19 |
| possible; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Another organization that has been instrumental |
| 21 |
| in helping with the Project Santa efforts is "Soldiers' |
| 22 |
| Angels"; at its web site, individuals or groups can adopt a |
| 23 |
| soldier by offering letters and packages from home to |
| 24 |
| individuals who would not otherwise receive any communication |
| 25 |
| from anyone; therefore, be it
|
| 26 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 27 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 28 |
| we commend Project Santa Adopt-A-Soldier on its Christmas |
| 29 |
| outreach efforts to our American soldiers, and we are thankful |
