HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death in Iraq of U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Gary T. Rovinski of Roseville on Monday, June 5, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Petty Officer Rovinski was a member of the U.S. Navy Seabees; he served as an equipment operator assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 25 based at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin; he had been in Iraq since March; and

WHEREAS, This was his second time serving in the military; he was in the U.S. Army during the first Gulf War as an eye specialist; he spent eight years in the U.S. Army and served as the non-commissioned officer in charge of the optometry section at Fort Lewis, Washington; he was an expert with the pistol and rifle and earned many medals from both the U.S. Army and Navy; and

WHEREAS, He was from Mountain Top, Pennsylvania, and earned a bachelor's degree from the College of Misericordia, where he majored in studio art and specialized in art therapy; he earned a master's degree at Miami University in Ohio; and

WHEREAS, Gary is remembered by his friends and family as a man who loved the Lord, his family, his country, and his fellow man; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Gary T. Rovinski has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Jenifer Rovinski, and his two children; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Petty Officer 1st Class Gary T. Rovinski, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Petty Officer Rovinski and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our sincerest condolences.
