| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the | 3 |
| State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death while | 4 |
| serving in Iraq of Sergeant Steven Paul Mennemeyer of Granite | 5 |
| City on Tuesday, August 8, 2006; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on December 9, 1979, in Frankfurt, | 7 |
| Germany; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Sgt. Mennemeyer was serving his second tour in | 9 |
| Iraq as a Flight Medic with the 82nd Medical Company out of | 10 |
| Fort Riley, Kansas; and
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, After he graduated from Granite City High School | 12 |
| in 1998, he joined the U.S. Army Reserves and was trained to be | 13 |
| a medic; he entered into active duty in 2002 and during his | 14 |
| first tour in Iraq, he was a ground medic; and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Prior to his entry into active duty, Steven worked | 16 |
| as a paramedic for Abbott Ambulance in Belleville; he was a | 17 |
| member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church of Granite City; and
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Sgt. Mennemeyer has been deeply | 19 |
| felt by many, especially
his mother, Ramona L. Phillips; his | 20 |
| father and step-mother, Steve and Maria Mennemeyer; his son, | 21 |
| Andrew Mennemeyer; his sister, Sarah Mennemeyer; his | 22 |
| step-brother, Drake Wallingsford; his maternal grandmother, | 23 |
| Myrtle Phillips; his paternal grandparents, Jerry and Marilyn | 24 |
| Mennemeyer; his special friend, SSG Ginny Akins of the 82nd | 25 |
| Medical Company serving in Iraq; and his many extended family | 26 |
| members and dear friends; therefore, be it
| 27 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 28 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 29 |
| we mourn the passing of Sergeant Steven Paul Mennemeyer, and we |

| extend our deepest sympathy to his family, his friends, and all | 2 |
| who knew and loved him; and be it further | 3 |
| RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Sergeant Mennemeyer | 4 |
| and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him | 5 |
| making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
| 6 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 7 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our sincerest | 8 |
| condolences.
