1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Dr. Sajjan K.
4 Nemani of Centralia on receiving the Rural Physician of
5 Excellence Award from the Illinois Rural Health Association;
6 and

7     WHEREAS, The Rural Physician of Excellence Award, also
8 known as Doc Hollywood Day, is given to exemplary physicians
9 working in rural counties of Illinois that go beyond the call
10 of duty to care for rural residents and help build rural
11 communities; and

12     WHEREAS, Dr. Nemani has practiced in Southern Illinois for
13 over 20 years and his reputation is impeccable; he is a caring
14 and compassionate physician and an expert in the field of
15 neurology; and

16     WHEREAS, He is board certified by the American Board of
17 Psychiatry and Neurology with added qualifications in Clinical
18 Neurophysiology; he is also certified by the American Board of
19 Sleep Medicine and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic
20 Medicine; he served a residency in neurology at the New York
21 Medical College and a fellowship at the University of
22 Louisville, Kentucky; and

23     WHEREAS, Dr. Nemani was the first neurologist to practice
24 in Centralia and has cooperated actively with St. Mary's
25 Hospital to develop an Electrodiagnostic Laboratory and a Sleep
26 Study Lab; he has trained other physicians, hospital employees,
27 and patients about the importance of sleep apnea and other
28 neurological illnesses and brought sophisticated neurological
29 testing to the hospital; and

30     WHEREAS, He is Chairman of the St. Mary's Good Samaritan

1 Incorporated (SMGSI) Neuroscience Clinical Team and is the
2 Medical Director of Neurology at both SMGSI campuses;
3 therefore, be it

4     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6 we congratulate Dr. Sajjan K. Nemani on receiving the Rural
7 Physician of Excellence Award; and be it further

8     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to Dr. Nemani as an expression of our deep respect
10 and esteem.
