HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The brothers of Theta Mu Lambda Chapter-Alpha Phi
3 Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, and the Theta Mu Lambda
4 Charitable Foundation, are to be commended for their hard work
5 on behalf of youth; and
 
6     WHEREAS, The brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha are dedicated to
7 building a foundation for the educational and personal
8 development of future leaders; their goal is to increase
9 scholarship initiatives and expand the scope of existing
10 educational programs to address the needs of the youth of the
11 community; and
 
12     WHEREAS, The brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha provide the
13 administration of legislative scholarships for State
14 Representative George Scully; they award scholarships funded
15 by Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation; they operate the
16 "Leaders of Tomorrow" mentorship program; and they provide
17 Project Alpha leadership training, as well as college tours and
18 other educational programs; and
 
19     WHEREAS, The brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha will be holding
20 their 17th Annual Black & Gold Ball on November 18, 2006, at
21 the Holiday Inn Select Convention Center in Tinley Park,
22 Illinois to provide educational resource and to raise
23 scholarship funds for young African American males; therefore,
24 be it
 
25     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we congratulate the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity on
28 their hard work and dedication to young African American males,
29 helping them find educational resources and funding for their
30 college educations; and be it further

1     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to Arthur Byrd, Jr., Chairman of the Theta Mu Lambda
3 Charitable Foundation.
