| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, On December 26, 2006 the Centralia Sports Hall of |
| 3 |
| Fame will hold its annual banquet and induction ceremony; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, This year's inductees include Ken Smudrick, known |
| 5 |
| as The Bull during his high school days; Ken was on the first |
| 6 |
| wrestling team at Centralia High School as well as the |
| 7 |
| undefeated Centralia High School football team of 1969; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Stan Vannier was a member of the 1972 |
| 9 |
| cross-country team at Centralia High School; Stan finished |
| 10 |
| second at the State meet, and with his team captured South |
| 11 |
| Seven championships and a South Seven title; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, The late G. Scott Jones was an official for the |
| 13 |
| Illinois High School Association; he was known throughout |
| 14 |
| Southern Illinois and the Midwest, calling three IHSA State |
| 15 |
| title games; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Phillip Venezia is receiving the VIP Award; for |
| 17 |
| over thirty-five years he has collected and kept records and |
| 18 |
| statistics on Centralia High School sports; he is also chairman |
| 19 |
| of the Centralia Sports Hall of Fame Committee; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, The 1981 Centralia High School Baseball Team is |
| 21 |
| being inducted for going to the IHSA Class AA Elite Eight, one |
| 22 |
| of two Centralia Baseball teams to make it to this level of |
| 23 |
| State tournaments; therefore, be it
|
| 24 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 25 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 26 |
| we congratulate the 2006 inductees of the Centralia Sports Hall |
| 27 |
| of Fame; and be it further
