| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
|

| Representatives wish to congratulate Representative Michelle |
| 4 |
| Chavez
on her service to the people of her legislative |
| 5 |
| district; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Representative Chavez has been a member of the
|
| 7 |
| Illinois House since 2005 and has selflessly given of herself |
| 8 |
| to serve this body with distinction; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, She has been an active member of the Committees on |
| 10 |
| Government Accountability and Streamlining, Health Care |
| 11 |
| Availability and Access, Higher Education, Human Services, |
| 12 |
| Mass Transit, State Government Administration, and Elementary |
| 13 |
| and Secondary Education; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Representative Chavez's volunteer service |
| 15 |
| includes helping coordinate the Mexican Independence Day |
| 16 |
| Parade and Festival for the Mexican-American Civic Society of |
| 17 |
| Cicero, and volunteering for the Federacion de Clubs |
| 18 |
| Jaliciences, which provides assistance to people with limited |
| 19 |
| English language skills; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Representative Chavez graced the General Assembly |
| 21 |
| not only with her spirit, but also with her superior singing |
| 22 |
| voice, which she shared with this body on occasion; and
|
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, Representative Chavez is the true embodiment of |
| 24 |
| the American dream, graduating from Wells High School in |
| 25 |
| Chicago, attending the Colegio Hispano Americano in Mexico City |
| 26 |
| and working
her way up the ranks of several small businesses; |
