HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Clara B. Mann has served three four year terms as
3 Decatur Township Supervisor and is retiring this year; and
 
4     WHEREAS, She was born to Wm. Lane and Waunitta Landers in
5 Cowden; she graduated from Cowden Community High School in 1954
6 with high honors; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Clara married Bobbie Mann; they are the parents of
8 one son, Scott Muth; they are the proud grandparents of Heather
9 Hodges and Tyler and Gabriel Johnson; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Mrs. Mann worked as a bookkeeper for an industrial
11 supplier for approximately 20 years; soon after the business
12 closed, her husband and a good friend encouraged her to run for
13 elected office; she was elected Decatur Township Supervisor;
14 and
 
15     WHEREAS, During her tenure, the Township has had many
16 changes, from the original Workfare General Assistance program
17 to the Earnfare program; the Township now has Transitional
18 Assistance, Family and Children Assistance, Earnfare and an
19 Emergency Assistance program, and Food Stamp and Training Job
20 Retention programs; and
 
21     WHEREAS, Decatur Township serves approximately 450 persons
22 per month with a staff of 9 persons; when she was first
23 elected, the Township served approximately 3,000 persons per
24 month with a staff of 28 people; Decatur has the largest
25 Earnfare Contract in downstate Illinois; therefore, be it
 
26     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
27 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
28 we congratulate Clara B. Mann on the occasion of her retirement
29 as Decatur Township Supervisor, and we thank her for her many

1 years of public service; and be it further
 
2     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to Mrs. Mann as an expression of our sincere respect
4 and esteem and with best wishes for a relaxing retirement.
