| HOUSE RESOLUTION
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Northern Suburban Special Education District | 3 |
| (NSSED) Superintendent Dave Peterson is retiring at the | 4 |
| conclusion of the 2004-2005 school year; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, NSSED serves 20 school districts with a combined | 6 |
| population of 40,000 students in the north shore suburbs of | 7 |
| Chicago; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson was hired by NSSED in 1989 as | 9 |
| Director of Support Services, and he has been Superintendent of | 10 |
| NSSED since 1994; he has held several other administrative | 11 |
| positions in Illinois school districts and joint agreements; | 12 |
| and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, He has a bachelor of science degree in psychology | 14 |
| and a master of science degree in school psychology from | 15 |
| Western Illinois University; he has also taken advanced | 16 |
| coursework in educational psychology from Northern Illinois | 17 |
| University and education leadership from Loyola University; | 18 |
| and
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, During his career, Mr. Peterson has made numerous | 20 |
| presentations at state and national conferences and has | 21 |
| published several journal articles and book chapters; and
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, He has conducted numerous training workshops, | 23 |
| served as a member of various committees for the Illinois State | 24 |
| Board of Education and has served as a consultant or conducted | 25 |
| staff development programs in Illinois, Florida, Iowa, Ohio, | 26 |
| Montana, and New York, among others; and
| 27 |
| WHEREAS, He is past-President of the Illinois Alliance of | 28 |
| Administrators of Special Education, and he currently serves as | 29 |
| President of the IASA North Cook Region Superintendents; and

| WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson leaves a legacy of dedication and | 2 |
| success in providing stable learning environments to the | 3 |
| district's special needs children; the NSSED has become a model | 4 |
| for every Special Education District across the country; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson's positive vision and persistent | 6 |
| advocacy to help all students achieve their potential will | 7 |
| leave its mark all the way from the classroom to the United | 8 |
| States Congress; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The new UCP Chicago's Infinitec North Assistive | 10 |
| Technology Coalition and Training Center and the Early | 11 |
| Childhood Center for Innovative Learning is a tribute to his | 12 |
| vision and management abilities; and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, He will be remembered by his staff and peers as | 14 |
| having a wonderful way of working with people; he brought | 15 |
| strength and grace to his leadership which brought out the best | 16 |
| in everyone; therefore, be it
| 17 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 18 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 19 |
| we congratulate and thank Dave Peterson for his tenure as | 20 |
| Superintendent of the Northern Suburban Special Education | 21 |
| District; and be it further
| 22 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 23 |
| presented to Superintendent Peterson as an expression of our | 24 |
| respect and esteem and with our best wishes for his retirement | 25 |
| and future endeavors.
