| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, It is the great privilege of the members of the
|
| 3 |
| House of Representatives of the State of Illinois to recognize
|
| 4 |
| milestone events for communities in the State; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, The Village of Mark will celebrate its 100th |
| 6 |
| anniversary during the weekend of September 23 through |
| 7 |
| September 25, 2005; during the celebration, a memorial |
| 8 |
| recognizing all veterans from the Village of Mark will be |
| 9 |
| dedicated; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, The memorial will include an AH-1 Cobra U.S. Army |
| 11 |
| Attack Helicopter that is one of only seven Cobras to be |
| 12 |
| demilitarized; it is 53.1 feet long and has a wing span of 10.8 |
| 13 |
| feet; it weighs 5 tons and had the capability of traveling 195 |
| 14 |
| miles per hour holding a 2 person crew; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, The Village found 268 names to be included in the |
| 16 |
| memorial; this includes 44 people who served in World War I, |
| 17 |
| 111 in World War II, 30 in the Korean War, 65 in Vietnam, and 18 |
| 18 |
| in the Gulf War; there are 115 of those who served still |
| 19 |
| living; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, The Village of Mark is located in Putnam County |
| 21 |
| and had a population of 491 in 2000; Kevin Troglio is the mayor |
| 22 |
| and Sandy Troglio serves as the clerk; therefore, be it
|
| 23 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 24 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 25 |
| we congratulate the Village of Mark on the occasion of its |
| 26 |
| 100th anniversary celebration and on the dedication of its |
| 27 |
| veterans memorial; and be it further
|
| 28 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 29 |
| presented to the Village of Mark as an expression of our |
