HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, It is the great privilege of the members of the
3 House of Representatives of the State of Illinois to recognize
4 milestone events for communities in the State; and
 
5     WHEREAS, The Village of Mark will celebrate its 100th
6 anniversary during the weekend of September 23 through
7 September 25, 2005; during the celebration, a memorial
8 recognizing all veterans from the Village of Mark will be
9 dedicated; and
 
10     WHEREAS, The memorial will include an AH-1 Cobra U.S. Army
11 Attack Helicopter that is one of only seven Cobras to be
12 demilitarized; it is 53.1 feet long and has a wing span of 10.8
13 feet; it weighs 5 tons and had the capability of traveling 195
14 miles per hour holding a 2 person crew; and
 
15     WHEREAS, The Village found 268 names to be included in the
16 memorial; this includes 44 people who served in World War I,
17 111 in World War II, 30 in the Korean War, 65 in Vietnam, and 18
18 in the Gulf War; there are 115 of those who served still
19 living; and
 
20     WHEREAS, The Village of Mark is located in Putnam County
21 and had a population of 491 in 2000; Kevin Troglio is the mayor
22 and Sandy Troglio serves as the clerk; therefore, be it
 
23     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
25 we congratulate the Village of Mark on the occasion of its
26 100th anniversary celebration and on the dedication of its
27 veterans memorial; and be it further
 
28     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to the Village of Mark as an expression of our
