HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The congregation of Sharon United Methodist Church in Plainfield will celebrate the church's 150th anniversary on November 6, 2005; and

WHEREAS, The day of celebration will begin with a special worship service, followed by a coffee hour; photo albums, artifacts, and posters will be on display featuring the church, the pastors, the congregation, and Plainfield through the years; an afternoon German heritage-themed potluck dinner will be followed by a skit performed by the Sunday School children; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Church has graced the corner of Lockport and Dillman Streets from 1855 to 2005; under the pastoral care of ministers "Father" Daniel Shreffler to Rev. Doug Booth, the congregation has changed from Evangelical to Evangelical United Brethren to United Methodist; the sanctuary and altar have changed many times as well; stained glass windows now grace every sunlit opening along with the bell tower; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the congregation of Sharon United Methodist Church on the happy occasion of the church's 150th anniversary; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Sharon United Methodist Church as an expression of our respect and esteem.
