HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The South Wheatland Fire Protection District was
3 officially voted in by referendum in November of 1952 and had a
4 series of planning meetings until April of 1955, when the
5 district's first fire station was opened on old State Route
6 47/48; and
 
7     WHEREAS, In early 1960, a newer, larger fire station was
8 constructed in the 1800 block of Taylorville Rd.; this building
9 has had two additions and upgrades throughout the years; and
 
10     WHEREAS, The South Wheatland Fire Protection District is
11 approximately 36 square miles in size and provides fire
12 protection, rescue, and emergency medical services to
13 approximately 3,600 citizens in a portion of four different
14 townships on the south, southeast, and southwest fringes of
15 Decatur; the district responds to approximately 125 calls for
16 service per year; and
 
17     WHEREAS, To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the formation
18 of the South Wheatland Fire Protection District an open house
19 to recognize the efforts of current and past members and
20 trustees and to promote fire safety awareness to the public
21 will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2005; also planned for this
22 day are static displays of fire apparatus and equipment,
23 demonstrations, tours of the facility, door prizes, and
24 refreshments; therefore, be it
 
25     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we congratulate the South Wheatland Fire Protection District on
28 the occasion of its 50th anniversary, and we recognize all of
29 the citizens that have served the public by working in the fire
30 protection district; and be it further

1     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the South Wheatland Fire Protection District as an
3 expression of our esteem.
