HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Bruce N. Johnson is retiring as Chief of Police of the Village of Round Lake Park and the Village of Hainesville after more than 20 years in Law Enforcement; and

WHEREAS, Chief Johnson, in addition to his position as Chief of Police, is an Adjunct Faculty Instructor at the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff and Command, and teaches courses in Forensics and Investigations at William Rainey Harper College; his academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Social Justice and a Master of Science Degree from Lewis University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude; he has also completed an extensive number of courses and seminars, some conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Pennsylvania State University, University of Louisville, Illinois Emergency Management Agency, Norfolk Constabulary and New Scotland Yard, England, and the Garda Siochana College Templemore, Ireland; and

WHEREAS, Chief Johnson has served on the Lake County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, the College of Lake County Criminal Justice Institute Advisory Committee, and the Advisory Board of the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy; he is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, serves on the Executive Board of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, and is a Past President of the Lake County Chiefs of Police Association; and

WHEREAS, Chief Johnson is a Board Member of the Lake County After School Coalition, the Round Lake Area Exchange Club, and the Institute for Public Safety Partnerships; he is a Member of the B.E.S.T. Program Development Committee and the Character Counts Coalition; he is also a Chief Warrant Officer in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and a member of American Legion Post 1170; and

WHEREAS, Bruce Johnson and his lovely wife Dee Dee have three bright, happy, and caring children: son Joseph, 14, son John, 11, and daughter Jacey, 4; Chief Johnson is also very proud of his involvement with, and being co-founder of, the Mano a Mano Family Resource Center, which provides much needed services for the diversified community of the Round Lake area; the Center provides instruction in English as a second language, health education, parenting, child care services, and much more; and

WHEREAS, Chief Johnson is also the coordinator for the Round Lake Park-Hainesville Police Department's Shop With A Cop Holiday Program, which has raised approximately $150,000 to benefit more than 1,500 of the Round Lake area's most disadvantaged children and families; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Bruce N. Johnson on his retirement as Chief of Police of the Village of Round Lake Park and the Village of Hainesville; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chief Johnson as an expression of our respect and esteem and with best wishes for a pleasant retirement.
